Does the Zenmate extension for Chrome effectively hide your IP address? Is it safe to torrent with it?

I don’t currently live in the U.S. and torrenting is acceptable in the country I live in.
However, I will be returning to the U.S. later this year. Will ZenMate be sufficient or will I need to find another VPN if I wish hide my IP address and safely torrent?

No, it does not. Chrome extensions don’t work outside of chrome usually.

I don’t know anything about computers.
So the extension only hides web activity and not my IP?

If it does anything, yes, it will only hide your activity in Chrome, nothing else.
