Do VPN’s work on apps or only through browser data?

If I access Reddit with the Reddit app, does my VPN work ? Or do I need to access Reddit through my browser for the VPN service to work?

Or when the VPN is active, does the VPN catch all data and push it through no matter what I am using ?

When I search this info up, I get so many different answers, yes it does, and no it doesn’t, depends on the settings … it is confusing maybe someone can help clarify please?

Depends on the VPN used. If it’s a VPN in browser only, then it doesn’t do shit for other apps. If it’s a normal VPN client that you installed, and it’s configured to transmit all traffic across the tunnel, then whatever app you’re using will be contained within that VPN tunnel.

In other words, IT DEPENDS.

Yes. Generally. VPN will take over the internet of the machine you’re using it on. There are a few exceptions like browser extensions vpns that work differently.

So a VPN I installed from the App Store on my OS , is a normal client ? And everything is covered ?

Or is a normal VPN client something else that I am missing?

Perma banned from what?? I’m going to China soon and gmail is banned there… I need access to my emails!!

If this is a mobile device I’m not sure. If you are looking for simply privacy its probably fine but if the alternative is getting in trouble for something I wouldn’t
