I’ll be travelling to China in about a week and i’m looking for a reliable vpn, last year i went with NordVPN (which was a massive mistake) but since then i’ve heard good things about V1 and Lets, which have you had a better experience with?
Idk V1, positive experiences with LetsVPN tho! Can definitely recommend
Nord VPN in our city Shenzhen doesn’t work at all , I think it’s same in elsewhere, I currently use a eSIM, VPN is unnecessary because it has a built in VPN
I’m using V1 as my main VPN. It has worked flawlessly in every city we have visited so far. We have been to Dalian, Harbin, Beijing, Haikou, and Qionghai
Mullvad and Freegecko are the most reliable and cost efficient ones.
Otherwise consider getting an eSIM if you are only staying for 7 days.
I’m here now and LetsVPN works. Though, still kinda concerning if they’re “watching” what i am doing as I heard they’re in bed with the government. Not sure if that’s true though.
I was also thinking of Mullvad but i saw a lot of complaints about it being kinda slow
My colleagues in China told me officially it’s illegal to use vpn to jump firewall and that’s why he didn’t recommend me any, but I know they still use it privately. It’s kind of use at your own risk thing.
Yes but you just need to try different servers. I currently rely on the one in Slovakia and it’s fast and stable. Just avoid the most popular ones.
There is zero risk for a foreigner using a VPN, especially a tourist. The police expect foreigners to have a VPN on their phones, even people like me who have been here for a long time. Chinese nationals might have a bit of a risk, but even that’s minimal.
