Astrill being detected? (China)

The past two days, I’ve had problems using Astrill (desktop) client. As soon as there’s a disconnect, the router stops being able to connect to the internet.

That is, it shows as the router having no internet, and other devices can’t connect to the internet using that router either. This has happened with two different routers in the same complex on successive days (the first on Wed, the second today, Thursday). Restarting devices/the router doesn’t have any effect. They stop working immediately after the Astrill disconnect, and so far have stayed disabled.

It’s theoretically possible that both routers somehow lost internet and that’s what caused the disconnect, but there’s no reason I can think of why this would be the case. Other routers in the complex that haven’t been used for VPNing are still fine.

My working theory is that the VPN is being detected somehow and the router is being denied service. I’m interested in knowing if this is plausible, and if there’s anything I can do to diagnose / fix the problem, whatever it is. Renting, so somewhat limited in my options.

perhaps try this:

I’ve had that happen and I think it’s the provider somehow detecting a VPN. Usually it’s at my job. I doubt the big providers care or have the resources to detect it.
