I have the premium suite of Kaspersky which included their password vault, VPN, and antivirus products. Do I have to replace all of them or just the antivirus? Im quite uncertain what I HAVE to do.
In the United States, you won’t be able to use any Kaspersky product when the ban kicks in.
If you are looking for a full suite replacement, look into Bitdefender, ESET or F-Secure.
I think kaspersky corporation gets the ban, not one specific product but I might be wrong
All of it. https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/20/politics/biden-administration-bans-kaspersky-software/index.html
It says “Previously installed software from the company can continue to be used but it will not be possible to download updates.”
Their VPN and any other software that depends on the cloud will just stop working completely.
Apologies u/DarkHeliopause. This thread has been derailed. I hope your concern has been sufficiently addressed.
u/MontegoBoy and u/DerpKanone consider this your only warning. I will ban both of you if you do not remain civil moving forward.
“Previously installed software from the company can continue to be used but it will not be possible to download updates.”
It’s a death sentence, especially if you consider definition ‘updates’ are updates. Your AV will be essentially useless inside a week. Edit: Further, the Kaspersky Security Network will be shut down in the US, which I reckon is their cloud service. This will further lobotomize their security products.
Everything else will be worse than useless after the first patched vulnerability is disclosed (or worse yet, not disclosed). You’ve got until September 29.
There are many other good antivirus available.
