I have seen this error message before on my laptop because I have three VPNs. If you are using multiple VPNs or proxies it may pick up. If not it very well could be a proxy virus.
Never saw this message even when i use other VPN
Does your phone browser have a VPN built in? Or at least some enhanced private browsing mode that may protect/disguise your IP address?
If you turn killswitch on that present in surfshark app and disconnect. Killswitch will work but surfshark wont reconnect to vpn again till you disable killswitch. This happens to me Android. Only happens with wireguard.
Clear data, uninstall. Then restart the phone and re install
I have had this same issue for ages. no other VPN on my android phone. I reconnect and it works for a time and then it pops up again. It is aggrivating
No but after that one update, surfshark has been really buggy and the kill switch doesnt work like it used to. I prefer the original way it was working. When you disconnect the kill switch turns on, whether you manually disconnect or lost connection
Go to your settings and search vpn, see in the list which apps are mentioned there and force stop each of them. That should do it
Same thing here, Android 13, Always on enabled, red text ‘’ Different VPN detected".
Won’t auto connect on network switch.

It is the same for me. the VPN will randomly disconnect after a few hours (usually I find out doing a leak check, the app still shows connected until I manually disconnect it, then that error message pops up)
i also do not have another VPN.
The key icon on the top also stays until the moment I disconnect Surfshark from settings (Connections > VPN) - then the key dissapears and when i re-open the app the error message is gone. So my best guess is that for some reason Surfshark recognises itself as another VPN? My settings show ONLY Surfshark, and the problems solve itself once i disconnect it.
Has anyone found a fix?
That’s the thing. I don’t have another VPN. Aside from surfshark, I got some anti virus and I had an ad blocker but not anymore.
I’ve. Only when I’ve got AdGuard going, besides that, I don’t have this problem. Especially on iOS

They suck! I can’t even use Google without being blocked a million times.
Don’t remember how I fixed it but I think I just restarted the phone or somethings

I fixed it but, I’ll be honest, I don’t remember how. I’d try uninstalling surfshark, restarting the phone, and then getting surfshark again. I think I fixed it through the surfshark settings though.
Some ad blockers will show the key like that, i think blokada is one, maybe u still have the ad block installed?
