Always On VPN - SSTP connection, connect and quick disconnect

On our Always on VPN solution we are experiencing the following issue for SSTP connections for user tunnel,

  1. User gets connected just fine
  2. After 1-2 minutes, user gets disconnected automatically

This can occur 2-3 times before it’s possible to establish permanent connection.
Troubleshooting shows this in logs,

Application log on client (EventID 20226): The user Test01 dialed a connection named AlwaysOn which has terminated. The reason code returned on termination is 829.

VPN Server Log (EventID 20272): The user Test01 connected on port VPN1-1021 on 20.04.2024 at 14:57 and disconnected on 20.04.2024 at 14:58. The user was active for 1 minutes 20 seconds. 40013 bytes were sent and 16520 bytes were received. The reason for disconnecting was user request.

The tunnel used was WAN Miniport (SSTP). The quarantine state was .

NPS Server Log: Nothing is logged, apart from the successful connection

Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m experiencing the same. Did you come any closer to a solution?

It was the Windows firewall causing it. The RRAS server has a virtual nic that uses the public network profile.

We had to ensure that Win FW did not block communication on it.
