so took me a long while to realize this but I am not really digging the fact that I paid for adguard but can’t use it with my already paid iCloud private relay to hide my ip. is there any way to allow it within advanced settings? I tried whitelisting apple server addresses to no extent which forces me to use the free safari adguard extension instead of the app.
Apple private relay is designed for browsing with safari (only).
If you want to secure the whole traffic, also for different browsers or apps, use Adguard.
Use Native DNS in Adguard for iOS, works seamlessly with iCloud Private Relay.
Hey man, I have the same problem as you as I use Safari always, however iCloud Private Relay is below AdGuard (if we are talking layers) and they cannot do anything. It’s how Apple designed it.
Your and my only option is to stop using AdGuard on Safari and block ads and other shit with extensions (1Blocker, StopTheMadness Pro, etc…) or go with a reputable VPN provider (which in my opinion when they say that they don’t log anything I always laugh, but this is off-topic)
does anyone know if this goes for ios devices as well?
I don’t use nothing but safari and I am not sure what you mean by securing. My ip is exposed while using AdGuard which makes me vulnerable for man in the middle attacks
It works with iOS perfectly fine but I am raving about macOS here
Yes the “reputable vpn provider” is an issue I have yet to solve, but not interested in solving since the relay is more than enough for me to sleep without a worry.
Shame that it works just fine on iOS with both
The Private relay situation is explained here: https://adguard.com/kb/adguard-for-mac/solving-problems/icloud-private-relay/
You may want to try the ‘alternative solution’ form the article.
Did you ever solve this u/ghosstss
Yes I read it but I don’t want to chose between security or ads and disabling network.extension.monterey.force.split.tunnel.
Essentially turns adguard off completely
Nope had to go without AdGuard on safari, using ghostery instead
So are you using AdGuard for Mac as well or were you just using the Safari version ? Thanks
The full paid Mac one
Ok so still using the AdGuard Mac version just not the Safari plugin ?
You basically have to choose between the AdGuard on safari or your iCloud relay, so I chose iCloud relay + ghostery
